Since the space we will be treating will be heated to temperatures approaching 140°F, it’s important that anything which may be affected by the heat be removed in advance.
The more you can permanently eliminate clutter and unnecessary personal belongings, the more quickly we will be able to eliminate the Bed Bugs and let you back into your home. As such, this is a great time to “clean house” and dispose of all the things you’ve been planning to for years. You’re responsible for removing all personal property and belongings that may be damaged during the Treatment. Thermal Clean is not responsible for any loss or damage to items not removed prior to the Treatment.

Bed Bug Heat Treatment Preparation FAQ
How should I prepare my home for bed bug heat treatment?
To prepare for bed bug heat treatment, homeowners should declutter the space, vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors, remove trash, and bag clean clothing and linens in contractor bags. Proper preparation helps ensure the treatment is as safe and effective as possible.
What items need to be removed before thermal heat treatment?
Any items that can melt, explode, or become damaged by high temperatures should be removed before treatment. This includes aerosol cans, candles, vinyl records, cosmetics, medications, flammable products, live plants, pets, musical instruments, artwork, and plasma screen TVs.
Why is decluttering important before bed bug extermination?
Decluttering helps eliminate hiding spots for bed bugs and allows heat to circulate evenly throughout the home. Reducing unnecessary items can also speed up the treatment process and improve the effectiveness of the extermination.
Do I need to remove clothing and bedding before treatment?
Yes. Clean clothing, bedding, towels, blankets, and other fabrics should be placed inside 42-gallon contractor bags that are only half full and left untied. Dressers and closets should also be emptied except for hanging clothes.
What is the most important rule before bed bug heat treatment?
The most important preparation rule is to remove anything that can melt or explode. Since thermal remediation heats the home to temperatures approaching 140°F, removing heat-sensitive items is essential for safety and preventing property damage.
